Engine Yard

Description

We are looking for a Ruby, Rails and Merb programmer to work primarily on internal projects with our web and products team.

Responsibilities

• Create management tools for the website, internal- and customer-facing applications
• Provide back-end support for the web team on internal projects
• Work on small, matrixed teams of developers, designers and managers, as needed
• Modify and integrate existing open-source tools
• Must be able to work onsite, at our San Francisco office

Skills

You must have experience with:

• Ruby
• Merb development and deployment
• Ruby on Rails deployment
• Linux/Unix
• Git source control (preferably have a GitHub account)
• MySQL, Active Record and DataMapper
• AJAX and Javascript, (specifically jQuery)
• Competency with HTML, RHTML/ERB and HAML
• Exposure to CSS and SASS
• Capistrano deployment

It's a bonus if you have experience with:

• Shell scripting (bash)
• Sys-admin (Apache, nginx, monit, mongrel)
• Rich media (FFMPEG, RMagick, ImageMagick, GraphicsMagick)
• Web services APIs
• Agile development practices

Other requirements

• Proficiency in Macintosh computer operation and related software usage
• Strong analytical and creative problem solving skills
• Ability to work self-directed in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
• Strong work ethic, reliable and detail-oriented
• Excellent written and oral communication skills (seriously!)
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize work and meet deadlines
• Flexibility and a desire to take on responsibilities
• Ability to work in a team environment
